Review of Communication

Chinese Journal of Communication (CJoC)

The Chinese Journal of Communication (CJoC) is a refereed journal to be launched in 2008 with committed institutional support of the School of Journalism and Communication at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The CJoC is designed to build a platform for the exchange of scholarship in communication with special attention to Chinese societies. The CJoC aims to elevate Chinese communication studies along theoretical, empirical, and methodological dimensions, while contributing to the international and intercultural understanding of media, information, and communication phenomena as a whole.

China's economic boom and the modernization of Chinese societies such as Hong Kong and Taiwan have led to profound changes in media and cultural sectors, whose consequences can now be felt in all continents. The CJoC is intended to be an international journal beyond the regional scope of Greater China. Chinese societies, which are the focus of this Journal are, in this sense, treated as samples and locales for the examination of general theories and propositions in communication.

Research articles using both social scientific and humanistic approaches will be included to understand all aspects of mass communication, media effects, journalism studies, telecommunications, rhetoric and cultural studies, new communication technologies, organizational communication, interpersonal communication, advertising and PR, political communication, communications law and policy, and so on.

Historical and comparative analyses focused on traditional Chinese culture as well as contemporary topics such as globalization, deregulation, and democratization are also welcome.
