NCA Annual Convention

This month sees the National Communication Association's 91st Annual Convention, which this year is being held in Boston from November 17-20.

The convention theme, "The Health of the Discipline" is intended to encourage members to reflect on the condition of communication as a discipline both literally and metaphorically.

The Carroll Arnold Distinguished Lecture will be presented by Dr. Judee Burgoon from the University of Arizona entitled, "Truth, Deception, and Virtual Worlds." Judee will demonstrate how features from her long standing program of deception research have application in an increasingly virtual existence.

The convention will feature over 1,200 programs and special features such as seminars, workshops, and G.I.F.T.S programs. The Newcomer's Reception and the Job Fair return again this year, and the Awards Ceremony will pay tribute to those scholars who have served the health of our discipline through exemplary research, teaching, and service. An article published in one of the NCA journals, Text and Performance Quarterly, is being awarded the NCA's Best Journal Article prize. This article and a few other specially selected articles can be read on the Arena on the sample articles page for a limited period only.

Routledge will be in Boston as one of the convention's special sponsors, and will be exhibiting at booths 111-115. The range of communication journals and books we publish will be on display, including the National Communication Association's journals. We're offering a 10% discount on personal subscriptions on all journals on display so come and visit us.
