September 2005
I am delighted to bring to your attention September's news from the
Communication Arena.
Editor's Focus
This month's Editor's Focus comes from Daniel Canary, Editor of
Western Journal of Communication, a publication of the
Western States Communication Association. Daniel recently completed his last issue and is preparing to hand over his editorship to Cheree Carlson, but not before he discusses the Journal's strength in balancing humanistic and scientific interests of communication researchers.
Sample Articles and Special Offers
Selected sample articles from
Western Journal of Communication are available to view for a limited period through the Arena. We are also offering a 20% discount on a new personal subscription to this Journal as well as the other Western States Communication Association Journal,
Communication Reports.
Call for Contributions
The European Journal of English Studies, now published by Routledge, is being relaunched in 2006 with a new editorial team and re-defined Aims and Scope and editorial policy. The Journal covers language and communication as well as literature and is calling for paper submissions from potential authors and sub-editors.

Competition Winner!
We recently ran a competition on the Arena to win £50 worth of Routledge Books vouchers. The question was "In which year was the National Communication Association founded?" and the correct answer is A. 1914. Please join me in congratulating Charlotte Szodruch on winning the vouchers.
Kind regards
